Biography
2008 will no doubt be a successful year for Silverwire. Having signed to independent label, Quadraphonic Records, the band is gearing up for another promising session in the studio. The 4 piece Moncton group has been garnering acclaim for their loud, energetic and exciting live shows while honing their originally undefined sound to an innovative mixture of wailing guitar solos, sprinting baselines, powerful funk drumming and intelligent lyrics.
Silverwire began as a concept by lead singer/guitarist Denis Duquette. Moving from band to band throughout high school, Denis would eventually give up playing for several years throughout university, only to return as an even more prominent songwriter and vocalist. After recording 2 full albums he decided it was time to find the people who could help him bring his songs to a wider audience. Soon, younger brother Eric Duquette(Guitar) and his then bandmate Matt Doiron (Bass) were enlisted in the summer of 2006 to help bring the songs to life. The trio began rehearsing relentlessly and decided a drummer was needed. After a brief search, the position was filled with local funk veteran Serge Hall.
Silverwire began to play their first shows, but were also itching to get into the studio to record their first album. In the spring of 2007 the band sought out the services of producer/engineer Chris Mersereau (El Fuego, Sol). Due to very broad musical tastes, the band was able to successfully blend rock, pop, funk, blues, and folk aspects into their record, separating themselves from other acts. Silverwire’s debut album The Trip is available online and at the band’s live shows.
